The Cronulla Sharks won this game with very strong defence, particularly close to the line. The Sharks’ line resisted numerous attacks from the Jets, and forced many mistakes from a frustrated Jets attack.
The Sharks team had many changes from the team named during the week, and Ben Orcher, Chad Townsend, and Jayson Bakuya were promoted from the Sharks Toyota Cup side to play in this match, and all of them scored points in this game. David Simmons try finished off a great break and run from Ben Orcher.
Although not originally selected to play, Misi Taulapapa, Tim Weyman, and Atelea Vea showed the value of their NRL experience.
